AUGUST 29, 2001 --
Fatah,
the Palestinian organization headed by Yasser Arafat, claims credit for the shooting death of an Israeli truck driver on the road near Nablus. The truck was a tanker delivering gasoline to Palestinian areas in the West Bank. Also killed today is Palestinian Moeen Abu Lawi, who is shot by an Israeli soldier as he reportedly tries to evade a checkpoint.
Two days ago, the first revenge murder for the killing of Palestinian leader Mustafa Zibri was recorded here as Jewish colonist Meir Lixenberg died in a driveby shooting. A caller claimed that Zibri's organization, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was responsible.
